Sacred Byte is a managed security services provider specializing in network security.

Our goal is to protect SMEs by devising and running their on-premise networks as fully managed network security solutions that are both powerful and affordable. We work with particularly data-sensitive companies such as law offices, tax accountants, notaries; R&D heavy companies and research institutes; architecture firms, communication and marketing agencies; schools and training centers, and tech companies who host data locally.

Sacred Byte GmbH is a newly incorporated venture, launched in the past month, after two years of successfully piloting our solutions. Thus, this presents a unique opportunity for our first team members to grow with our business and make a significant impact in the industry.

Responsibilites

  • Manage and maintain Windows-based systems and servers in accordance to a coherent overall security architecture spanning the network, users, servers, endpoints, and the cloud.
  • Collaboratively design, implement, and oversee network infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure reliability and availability.
  • Implement security measures and perform regular audits.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand and meet their specific infrastructure needs.

Skills and Expertise

Required:

  • Proven experience as a Windows System Administrator.
  • Proficiency in managing Active Directory, permissions, and access policies.
  • Ability to administer cloud solutions, especially Office 365, MS Entra ID, Google and cloud-based identity providers.
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Practical understanding of networking hardware like switches and access points.
  • Ability to provide technical support and basic training to end-users.
  • Robust knowledge of networking principles and networking architecture (including for example firewall configurations, IPS/IDS and VPNs).
  • Concise and relevant documentation of services rendered, solutions established and insights gained is expected.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage multiple clients simultaneously.
  • English working proficiency.

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with OPNSense, UNIX-based systems and MacOS is beneficial.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is helpful.
  • Ability to automate and streamline processes and tasks.
  • German working proficiency.

Working Schedules and Locations

Infrastructure doesn’t sleep, and we need to respond to critical issues when they arise. However, our working schedules are designed to mix flexibility with reliability, giving you the freedom to manage your time effectively. For this reason, our working schedules mix flexibility with reliability.

 

  • We are remote first, so you can be at home for your family. However, travel to client locations within the Berlin region is occasionally needed for on-site support and implementations, sometimes on short notice.
  • This role is compatible with night owls or those who simply have other responsibilities during the day. We like working odd hours, so that we can make updates to our clients networks outside of their working hours.
  • Sometimes, you will be “on call” on pre-agreed schedules so that we can provide our clients with quick responses when critical issues arise.
